           Mineral sunscreen, also referred to as physical sunscreen, is a physical shield which lies on top of your skin to protect it from the sun. It is effective immediately and is better tolerated by sensitive skin. While older versions of mineral sunscreen tended to leave a white film, or white cast on the skin, it has greatly improved over time. Mineral sunscreen also lasts longer in direct sunlight, though will need to be reapplied as per product directions, generally after two hours, or after swimming or sweating.

           What Makes the Skin around Eyes so Important?
          &#xD;

           The skin around your eyes is different from the rest of your face. It is delicate, and should always be treated gently. The skin around your eyes is thin and the eye muscles move constantly as they help to convey emotions to others. The eyes, and the skin around them are perhaps the most communicative parts of ourselves, offering smiles, frowns, and a hundred other nuances. It is also affected by the environment we live in, both outdoors and indoors, and affected by our diet, water intake, and light.

           The eye area consists of the orbital bone, eyebrow, upper cheekbones, and out to the side where it joins the temple. The eyelid skin is also included in the eye area, and this skin is an even more fragile area.

           Dark Circles, Puffiness, and More
          &#xD;

           Some of the concerns for eye-care include tired eyes, targeting dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, and wrinkles. Tired eyes can be a combination of factors, both external and internal, including overall stress and lack of sleep, in addition to straining your eyes from computers/screens/poor lighting, or the wrong eye prescription. Tired eyes can strain your eye area by squinting, and accelerating fine lines, and wrinkles. Dark circles extend downwards from the inner corner of eyes in a gray or purplish-black tone. If hereditary, an eye treatment with caffeine or vitamin K can help with circulation (greater blood flow in this area will improve the colour). Poor diet can also contribute to dark circles, lack of water, and a consistent lack of sleep. Excess alcohol can also enhance dark circles, so try to limit your daily intake.
          &#xD;

           Puffiness, especially if it’s more than the eye area that is affected, can be reduced by lowering your salt intake to avoid water retention. Continue to drink your daily required amount of water by sipping throughout the day. Fine lines will noticeably improve with some TLC. Remember to pat gently and not rub the eyes aggressively. Wrinkles, especially crinkle, or smile lines, can be visually improved, or softened, with a regular eye care routine. Wrinkles occur naturally over time so the earlier you commit to taking regular care of this area, the better.
          &#xD;

Here’s what to do: in the morning, wash your face as usual, then add an eye cream or gel under your eye, in the area near the outer corner of your eyes, and slightly downwards. Never pull or tug down, use a gentle finger to tap the product on quickly, using a pea-sized amount of product. Do not apply to your lashes. If your lashes are brittle, or hard, be sure all makeup is off, and look into purchasing a special lash conditioner which is sold in a mascara-like tube. At night, remove all makeup with a gentle cleansing product specific to eyes as they are less harsh and should not sting your eye. Pat dry, then apply eye cream or gel.
          &#xD;

           Carrots are extremely nutritious, bursting with beta carotene, vitamin K, and potassium. They also contain lutein (an antioxidant) which improves the overall health of your eyes. Incorporate them into your diet, along with cucumbers.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Cucumbers are high in both hydration and antioxidants; leave the peel on and add them into salads, or eat raw. For a quick at home remedy for tired eyes use slices of cucumbers to cool, and hydrate. Chill the cucumbers, and don’t slice them too thin. Lay your head back and put one on each eye. Relax for ten to fifteen minutes, and once they’ve warmed from your body heat, flip them over.

Ensure you moisturize palms, backs of hands, wrist, fingertips, and nails. If using hand sanitizer, wait until it has dried, and then apply moisturizer.

           What is Blue Light?

           Blue light comes from sunlight, smart phones, computers and other electronic devices. It is a high energy, short wavelength light that is on the blue end of the visible light spectrum. This short wavelength has a higher energy output and unfortunately can cause greater damage to the skin.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           Harmful effects of Blue Light

           Blue light has been proven to affect our beauty sleep because it disrupts our natural circadian rhythm. If one is exposed to a significant amount of blue light before bed, you may find it difficult to fall asleep because blue light affects the level of melatonin, the sleep hormone. There is mounting evidence that blue light contributes to photo-aging which can worsen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as breaking down collagen, depleting skin's elasticity and causing hyper pigmentation. Studies have shown that spending four, eight hour workdays in front of a computer is equivalent as spending 20 minutes un-protected in mid day sun. Though you don't feel the heat or burning of your skin, the damage is being done. Blue light has the ability to penetrate the skin deeper than UVA and UVB light causing free radical damage and inflammation.

           What can we do to limit exposure

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           A quick fix would be to cover your computer and phones with a blue light shield or turn your computer and phones to "night mode" which gives off a yellow light not a blue light. This should be used at all times to save your eyes and to help prevent aging. Eating a diet rich in antioxidants from fresh fruits and vegetables as well as applying topical antioxidants from skincare. During the day it's recommended to apply a physical sunscreen, like a mineral based sunscreen that contains Zinc Oxide. Look for products that contain Cocoa seed extract as studies show it helps block the skin's blue light receptor cells as well as products that protect against environmental pollution and contain antioxidant rich ingredients.

           A Poem, written out of shear Holiday excitement, love, joy and innocence from the eyes of an 11 year old child.  
          
                    &#xD;

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           Bells 
          
                    &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           Bells ring, as we sing, carols go along as we hear jingle, jingle, jingle.
          
                    &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           One little Shake is all it takes.
          
                    &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           A bell makes a song no one else can hear, bells ring in my ear,
          
                    &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           some say annoying though I think not,
          
                    &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           Jingle, jingle Kris Kringle always jolly and bright, 
          
                    &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           must love those bells all day and all night.
          
                    &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           The use of crystals dates back to ancient Egypt when crystals were used in magical formulas. The use of lapis lazuli, turquoise, carnelian, emerald and clear quartz were made into jewellery or carved into Amulets or good luck charms to put into graves and primarily for health and protection. Galena and Malachite were used cosmetically for make-up. The stones were ground up and used as eye shadow.

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           The word "crystal" comes from the Greek word for ice. The Ancient Greeks believed that clear quartz was water frozen so deeply that it remains a solid. Ancient Greeks would also carve various crystals into Amulets for health and protection. To this day the Greek culture uses crystal Amulets daily as a good luck charm.

           In Ancient China, Jade was highly valued and used to bury Chinese Emperors. Jade was recognized as a kidney healing stone and was used for good luck as it is seen as a primary use today.
